What does a corporate offsite in Kerala actually cost?

Kerala is where teams go when the brief is "slow down and actually talk to each other" rather than "pack the schedule." Backwater houseboats, Kochi as the entry point, and a premium feel without leaving the country. Here is what it actually costs.

Why Kerala prices above Goa

Flights into Kochi run ₹21,500 round trip nonstop (3h 10m), against ₹13,000 for Goa - so the flight leg alone is about ₹8,500 more per person. Kerala also sits in the domestic-premium tier rather than standard domestic, which means higher baseline stay rates: houseboats and backwater resorts are priced differently from beach hotels. Both differences are already reflected in the numbers above.

The monsoon is not a small detail

May through August is heavy monsoon (23–29°C) - rates drop, but backwater activities and outdoor sessions become unreliable. The dry window is October through January (22–32°C), which is genuinely the only stretch where a backwater-centred itinerary works as planned. February through April is hot and humid rather than wet, which is workable if the schedule is mostly indoors.

Kochi as a base, or go up to Munnar

Both destinations fly into Kochi. The backwaters are close to the airport; Munnar is about a 3.5-hour road transfer beyond it, at ₹16,000 round trip for the flight leg. Munnar trades the houseboat experience for tea gardens and cooler hill weather (12–25°C in season). For a 2-night trip the road transfer eats meaningfully into usable time - it makes more sense on 3 nights or more.
