Gurgaon is unusual in having three genuine outing spots inside its own district - Manesar, Damdama and Sohna are all in Gurugram, and all under forty minutes out. That changes the question. Elsewhere the choice is which weekend to lose; here it is whether you need to stay the night at all.
Under an hour each way, which leaves a full working day at the other end. These are what most Gurgaon teams mean by a team outing:
| Place | By road | Drive | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Manesar | 20 km | 24m | Closest of the lot, straight down NH-48. Resort and golf properties, and the usual pick when the whole thing has to fit in a working day. |
| Damdama Lake | 26 km | 31m | Aravalli foothills with the lake. Outdoor and adventure formats - camps, obstacle courses, boating. |
| Sohna | 31 km | 37m | Slightly further into the hills. Better when you want a half-day session indoors and an activity after. |
Past about an hour, a day trip stops working - you spend the good hours on the road. These are one- or two-night territory:
| Place | By road | Drive | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Neemrana | 107 km | 2h 8m | Fort-palace property and the default NCR one-nighter. Too far to be a day out. |
| Alwar | 141 km | 2h 49m | Sariska on the doorstep if the agenda needs a real outdoor half-day. Overnight only. |
| Karnal | 178 km | 3h 34m | Flat highway run north. Easy to reach, little to do beyond the resort, so build the agenda indoors. |
Distances are estimates from straight-line distance corrected for the Indian road network at an assumed 50 km/h including stops, not live routing. They do not model the Gurgaon end of the journey, which on a weekday morning is the slowest part of any of these. Use them to shortlist, then confirm with your operator.
Forty people from Gurgaon, 4-star standard, coach both ways. The only thing changing is how long you stay and how far you go:
| Option | Per person | Total for 40 |
|---|---|---|
| Drive, 1 night | ₹4,660 | ₹1,86,408 |
| Drive, 2 nights | ₹8,969 | ₹3,58,776 |
| Fly somewhere, 2 nights | ₹25,942 | ₹10,37,664 |
Staying inside driving distance rather than flying saves about ₹16,972 per person, or roughly ₹7 lakh across the team - more than any hotel negotiation will return you.
Manesar, Damdama and Sohna are usually done without staying over, and that is a different purchase entirely - a venue day rate, food, an activity and a coach. There is no room night in it, so none of the figures above apply.
We price those by hand rather than guess at them. Tell us the date and headcount and we come back with real numbers, usually within a working day.
The drive times above start once you are moving. Getting forty people out of Cyber City or Golf Course Road on a weekday morning is the half nobody budgets for, and it can cost you an hour before the highway begins.
Two things follow. Pick one pickup point rather than three - a coach looping the sectors adds more time than the drive itself. And leave at seven rather than nine; the same journey is a different trip.
The figures here are for 40 people at a 4-star standard. Change the headcount, the dates or the star rating and they move. The calculator builds a full line-item budget in about a minute - free, and with no signup.
