Bengaluru has the best short-drive options of any Indian metro. Two places sit inside an hour, a palace city with real conference hotels is three hours out, and hill stations and the coast are reachable in a morning. Below is what each actually takes to get to, and what driving instead of flying is worth.

What driving saves you

Same 40-person team, same 4-star standard. The only variable is whether anyone flies:

OptionPer personTotal for 40
Drive, 1 night₹4,660₹1,86,408
Drive, 2 nights₹8,969₹3,58,776
Fly, 2 nights₹25,942₹10,37,664

Driving rather than flying saves about ₹16,972 per person on the same standard of trip. Across 40 people that is roughly ₹7 lakh, which is more than any hotel negotiation will ever return.

What is within reach

Ordered by distance. A coach carrying 40 people is slower than a car, and the drive comes out of your agenda at both ends:

DestinationBy roadDriveSuits
Ramanagara57 km1h 8mRock country. The obvious pick when the agenda is adventure or outdoor team-building.
Nandi Hills59 km1h 11mClosest hill air to the city. Resort-led, and a genuine one-night option.
Mysuru165 km3h 18mThe only one nearby with real conference infrastructure and hotel depth at scale.
Ooty258 km5h 10mAdd time for the ghat section - the last stretch is slow and a coach feels every bend.
Coorg273 km5h 28mCoffee estates and the classic Bengaluru two-nighter. Book early in season.
Pondicherry349 km6h 59mCoast and the French quarter. At seven hours it is the outer edge of drivable.

Distances are estimates from straight-line distance corrected for the Indian road network at an assumed 50 km/h including stops, not live routing. They do not model Bengaluru city traffic on the way out, which on a weekday morning can add an hour before you have left the ORR. Use them to shortlist, then confirm with your operator.

Leaving the city is the hard part

The distances above are the easy half. Getting 40 people out of Bengaluru is the other half, and it is the thing most plans underestimate. A 7am departure and a 10am departure are different trips - the second can cost you ninety minutes before the highway even starts.

Two practical consequences. Pick a single pickup point rather than three, because a coach doing a loop of the city adds more time than the drive itself. And if the team is spread across Whitefield and Electronic City, the direction you travel matters as much as the distance.

One night or two

Anything under about two hours works as a one-nighter - Ramanagara and Nandi Hills both do, which is why they take so much of the city's offsite traffic. Mysuru at three hours is the furthest that still leaves a useful first day.

Coorg, Ooty and Pondicherry need two nights minimum. Five to seven hours each way against a single overnight leaves you with a bus tour rather than an offsite.
