Season and weather data here is the same information behind this site's holiday planner - not written once and left to go stale. Price notes are dated where they come from an actual checked booking, not an average.
The short answer: June through September, if you want dry weather without New Year prices. Here is the real reasoning, not just the headline months.
Bali's dry season runs roughly April through September (23–31°C, dry season - best time) - the reliable window for beach days, hiking Batur at sunrise, and outdoor dining without a downpour interrupting it. June through September specifically is the sweet spot inside that window: the air is a touch drier and cooler than April-May, without yet sliding into the October transition.
October through March is the wet season (24–32°C, wet season, humid) - not a washout, but rain most days, usually as a heavy hour or two rather than all-day grey. Ubud and the interior get wetter than the south coast beaches. It is a genuinely fine time to go if your dates are fixed and it is not December, for the reason below.
We checked this directly rather than trust a monthly average, because monthly averages hide exactly this: comparing the same hotels on the same booking dates, the last week of December priced meaningfully higher than an equivalent week in July - a New Year spike, not a seasonal one. If your dates are flexible, that single week is worth moving away from on price alone, separate from whether the weather that week happens to be dry.
Return fares from Delhi run from ₹42,200 on a one-stop routing via Kuala Lumpur (10h 25m); a nonstop option exists from roughly ₹59,000 if the extra half-day matters more than the fare difference. Entry is visa on arrival for Indian passports - + tourist levy, ~₹3,800/person - so there is no advance visa application to plan around, unlike destinations that need a sticker visa weeks ahead.
